Snow Motion Mixtape
Wish I had a fire place, but this record is just as hot. Rad show last night at Neumos.
Finally checked out a show at the recently restored Neptune Theatre. I am so grateful to live in a city that values their performance spaces. Strong work STG, the rehab turned out great. And for the record Wild Beasts were just as good as the last time I saw them. Those vocal parts will get me every time.
Timber Timbre - Attended the seance-prom conjured up by these Canooks last night. Safe to say I drank out of the punch bowl. Which was surely spiked with their spells. It went down easy… dark & sweet. Now I can tell my mom I went to church.
“Discovering and exploring the neighborhoods of Seattle through their often hidden and picturesque stairways”. Very cool site, one of these routes has some stair sets I often incorporate into my runs. Even when walking these climbs they will get your heart pumping. And for the record, West Seattle residents are quit possibly the coolest. This site only further validates this claim. Go Jake and Cathy, keep up the good work.
Early Wednesday morning, Seattle from up above. Check Mt. Rainier in the upper right. Once due south bound to SeaTac I spotted all three; St. Helens, Adams, & Rainier.
Hands down the sweetest apartment in Seattle. Check out this article and great slide show. $ Rent unknown… if you have to ask then it’s too much…
Seattle sky line as seen from high above on the Smith Tower’s 35th floor. Stephen Willis the tower’s resident docent and historian just happened to be our SAF tour guide. We got a bonus trip up to the Chinese Room. Amazing views in all directions, but I just loved the space needle peak-a-boo.
As promised, went on another SAF tour “Lions, Griffins, & Walruses, Oh My!”. This eagle I found to be particularly handsome.
Rainier Tower window washer. Took a tour with my office mates courtesy of the Seattle Architecture Foundation. The “Greatest Hits” tour was a nice introduction to downtown Seattle highlights. Anxious to check out some of the more focused tours this non-profit offers. Most notably, Design Details: “Lions, Griffins, & Walruses, OH MY!”

Saw Phantogram and The Antlers at Neumos last night. Phantogram’s front woman Sarah Barthel’s syncopated Muppet like hair gyrations were cute. Seems the crowd was backing up these guys more than the headliners; perhaps due to the repeated play of their single “Mouth Full of Diamonds” on KEXP? I myself was more excited to see The Antlers. It was nice to hear them louder and more brazen then their recorded work. The first encore song was their rendition of The XX’s VCR. Granted there have been a deluge of covers/remixes of The XX lately, but this one was something special. Here is it recorded via University of Illinois radio station WPGU. Last night’s version was even more stretched out and slower. On top of that Peter Silberman really pushed his pipes. Enjoy.
A day dream from last night = Escape from New York overdubbed with Sleepy Eyes of Death’s sonic soundscapes. It’s hard to imagine a better score then John Carpenter’s own original but I heard it last night at Neumos. Apocalyptic live electro for the 21st century (instead of 1997). Side note: it’s strange when the fictional future has already passed.
